অনেক কথা বলেছিলেম কবে তোমার কানে কানে
কত নিশীথ-অন্ধকারে, কত গোপন গানে গানে॥
সে কি তোমার মনে আছে তাই শুধাতে এলেম কাছে
রাতের বুকের মাঝে তারা মিলিয়ে আছে সকল খানে॥
ঘুম ভেঙে তাই শুনি যবে দীপ-নেভা মোর বাতায়নে
স্বপ্নে পাওয়া বাদল-হাওয়া ছুটে আসে ক্ষণে ক্ষণে
বৃষ্টিধারার ঝরোঝরে ঝাউবাগানের মরোমরে
ভিজে মাটির গন্ধে হঠাৎ সেই কথা সব মনে আনে॥

অনেক কথা বলেছিলেম কবে তোমার কানে কানে

সে কি তোমার মনে আছে তাই শুধাতে এলেম কাছে
রাতের বুকের মাঝে তারা মিলিয়ে আছে সকল খানে॥
ঘুম ভেঙে তাই শুনি যবে দীপ-নেভা মোর বাতায়নে
স্বপ্নে পাওয়া বাদল-হাওয়া ছুটে আসে ক্ষণে ক্ষণে
বৃষ্টিধারার ঝরোঝরে ঝাউবাগানের মরোমরে
ভিজে মাটির গন্ধে হঠাৎ সেই কথা সব মনে আনে॥
Translation
Sometime ago I did whisper many words in your ears.
Of many dark nights, many lyrics and songs in backstairs.
Do you remember them, I came near to ask only this.
They do diffuse like stars on the bosom of night skies!
Listen to them awaking from sleep when the lamp of window extinguishes.
When every moment the dream clouds intermittently gushes.
As showers rattles and forests of fir murmur.
Those tales, the aroma of moist soil compels us to remember.
