Aami boyibo na mor kheyar tori ae ghaate, 
Chukiye debo becha kena, 
Mitiye debo go, mitiye debo lena dena, 
Bondho hobe ana gona ae haate- 
Tokhon amaye nai ba mone rakhle, 
Tarar pane cheye cheye Naiba amaye dakle. 

Jakhon jombe dhula tanpuraTar targuloye, 
KaNtalota uthhbe ghorer dhargulaye, 
Phuler bagan ghono ghaser 
Porbe sojja bonobaasher, 
Sewola ashe ghirbe dighir dhargulye 
Tokhon amaye naiba mone rakhle, 
Tarar pane cheye cheye Naiba amaye dakle. 

Tokhon emni koreyi bajbe banshi aye nate, 
Katbe din katbe, 
Katbe go din aajo jemon din kate, 
Ghate ghate kheyar tori 
Emni se din uthhbe bhori 
Chorbe goru khelbe rakhal oyi mathhe. 
Tokhon amaye naiba mone rakhle, 
Tarar pane cheye cheye Naiba amaye dakle. 

Tokhon ke bole go sheyi probhate neyi aami. 
Sokol khelaye korbo khela ae aami 
Notun namya dakbe more, 
Bandhbe notun bahu-dore, 
Ashbo jabo chirodiner aye aami. 
Tokhon amaye naiba mone rakhle, 
Tarar pane cheye cheye Naiba amaye dakle. 

যখন পড়বে না মোর পায়ের চিহ্ন এই বাটে, 
আমি বাইব না মোর খেয়াতরী এই ঘাটে, 
চুকিয়ে দেব বেচা কেনা, 
মিটিয়ে দেব গো, মিটিয়ে দেব লেনা দেনা, 
বন্ধ হবে আনাগোনা এই হাটে-- 
তখন আমায় নাইবা মনে রাখলে, 
তারার পানে চেয়ে চেয়ে নাইবা আমায় ডাকলে। 

যখন জমবে ধুলা তানপুরাটার তারগুলায়, 
কাঁটালতা উঠবে ঘরের দ্বারগুলায়, 
ফুলের বাগান ঘন ঘাসের পরবে সজ্জা বনবাসের, 
শ্যাওলা এসে ঘিরবে দিঘির ধারগুলায় 
তখন আমায় নাইবা মনে রাখলে, 
তারার পানে চেয়ে চেয়ে নাইবা আমায় ডাকলে। 

তখন এমনি করেই বাজবে বাঁশি এই নাটে, 
কাটবে দিন কাটবে, 
কাটবে গো দিন আজও যেমন দিন কাটে, 
ঘাটে ঘাটে খেয়ার তরী এমনি সে দিন উঠবে ভরি-- 
চরবে গোরু খেলবে রাখাল ওই মাঠে। 
তখন আমায় নাইবা মনে রাখলে, 
তারার পানে চেয়ে চেয়ে নাইবা আমায় ডাকলে। 

তখন কে বলে গো সেই প্রভাতে নেই আমি। 
সকল খেলায় করবে খেলা এই আমি 
নতুন নামে ডাকবে মোরে, বাঁধবে নতুন বাহু-ডোরে, 
আসব যাব চিরদিনের সেই আমি। 
তখন আমায় নাইবা মনে রাখলে, 
তারার পানে চেয়ে চেয়ে নাইবা আমায় ডাকলে॥

Translation

When my footprints shall not be printed on this road. 
Across these jetties I shall not be there to row my boat. 
I shall close all my businesses. 
I shall fulfill all my deficits. 
Shall stop my frequent visits to this market place. 
Then you may not remember me anymore 
Staring up in the skies, you may not recall me anymore. 

When dust settles on strings of my instrument. 
And thorny creepers climb on my door steps. 
As if going to exile my flower garden wear gown of grass thickets. 
Algae and mosses come and surround the lakes. 
Then you may not remember me anymore 
Staring up in the skies, you may not recall me anymore. 

Yet flute shall play in this theater. 
Days will come and pass at regular. 
Boats shall continue to cross over. 
Loaded with passengers. 
The cows shall continue to graze and shepherds play on that meadow. 
Then you may not remember me anymore 
Staring up in the skies, you may not recall me anymore. 

And who says I shall not be there on that morning 
I shall be omnipresent in all proceedings. 
You will call me by my new name, you will bind me with new chains. 
I shall come and go eternally, the same me. 
So you need not remember me anymore 
Staring up in the skies, you may not recall me anymore.
